The Mayor of Ramsgate David Green seems determined to blame me for the vandalism to the Great Wall of Ramsgate. He then goes on to accuse me, without a shred of evidence, of calling for an occupation of the Pleasurama site and suggests that I am not fit for office and should resign from the Council.
Strange that this self-appointed guardian of public morality has not asked Councillors who are police cautioned homophobes, convicted animal abusers or convicted drunk drivers to stand down from public office.
The word hypocrisy comes to mind.
But I think another explanation for David Green's self-righteous moral outrage could possibly be an effort to divert attention away from the Pleasurama scandal which has been festering on Ramsgate's seafront for 14 years and for which both the Labour and Conservative parties do not appear able to get to grips with.
Last but not least the Kent County Council elections are coming up and its always handy to be able throw mud at you real or imagined opponents. Especially when your chances of winning are not good.
I am sure that what we have seen over the past couple of weeks will get dirtier and dirtier and certain politicians will be revealed in their true colours.
For my part I will stand aside and enjoy the spectacle of obese, older men grappling in a cesspit of flith which they created.
Are those two naked men meant to be you and David?
ReplyDeleteI think they are a bit short of obesity to be either.
DeleteAre those women supposed to be Iris and Shirley?
DeleteA good analysis IMHO. Keep your eye on the ball and don't let them distract you with this nonsense. You are answerable to the electorate, not to these clowns. Don't attend any kangaroo court and challenge them to remove you as a councillor. They won't because they can't. You are elected and, if they try to remove you you'll be voted back in with a vastly increased majority. Trust the people to back you. They've been looking for a champion for a long time and it could be you.
ReplyDeleteCllr Driver, I'm surprised that you could be suggesting that our local government people's representative - 'Trinity', the three-in-one locally revered political spirit that is Green: as Mayor, as Ramsgate Town Councillor and Thanet District Councillor, may be unwisely apportioning blame at your door. Green is after all, in his buddha-like form only doing his jobs with public taxes in the form of 3 people's allowances and perhaps unwisely meals for a similar number. This doesn't however bode well for his ability to leg it when the sand kicking starts.
ReplyDeleteDavid's failed as Mayor. Bum him hard on the issues, or just his bum Ian.
ReplyDeleteI expect better from a district councillor. Your approach to local politics is a disgrace. Tony Blair got rid of militant but it still lives with you. I dare you to publish this comment. I hope you disappear up your own fundemental orifice.
ReplyDeleteMy apologies, yes it was Kinnokio who sorted militant out. But if you think that this apology for a councillor is the way forward then you are sadly mistaken. I think you will find he is the laughing stock of just about every other blog in Thanet. And at least in the old SCHOOL we "IDIOTS" learnt to spell correctly, something that matters in every day life.

DeleteIt is sad to see our elected representatives slagging each other off instead of getting on with real work of trying to make Ramsgate a better place. This kind of blog genuinely sickens me, it drags politics down to the gutter which is exactly where we cannot afford for it to be. You are laughable if you are trying to suggest that you are somehow above the fray when you are clearly by posting this down in the cesspit along with the rest of them.
ReplyDeleteThose other posters including yourself who suggest that Cllr Green's weight is somehow an issue that can be commented on and ridiculed are beneath contempt. As has been shown by studies obesity is a serious illneess which is to be fought and struggled with and as such sympathy should be shown not cheap political point scoring.
